Photo Assignment #5: Open Subject - Michigan State VS Michigan Game 2016

I decided to use my Open Assignment this week to focus on the pictures I took at Michigan VS Michigan State Game this last Saturday. I had tickets all the way at the top of the stadium in the "balcony" or referenced as "nosebleed seats," but luckily I was able to get some fairly decent pictures by zooming in quite far. There is some digital noise, but please remember how far away my seats were. Considering this, the pictures I was able to get are a very good quality.

Summary: This assignment was a lot of fun! I had some trouble keeping the camera focused when zooming, but due to where I was sitting these turned out fairly good! There is some digital noise.

Portrait Assignment

This assignment was for us to take a portrait of someone in a stdio with specific lighting, and another portrait of the person, but this time near a window so you have a natural lighting effect.

This assignment gave us all a feel for another type of photography, using two different types of lighting. This wasn't my favorite assignment, but it was fairly easy.

Photo Assignment #4: Food

The subject this week was "Food." I've noticed many photographers focus a majority of their pictures around this subject and that it's gotten quite popular, so I decided to give it a try myself. I decided to take pictures focusing on some fall-themed cupcakes, as well as chocolate chip cookies. Enjoy!

Summary: This was a fairly easy, and quick assignment. I didn't have any problems with this subject. There unfortunately is some digital noise on a picture or two but it was hard to avoid that.

Photo Assignment #3: Animal

For this week, the subject I used to focus on for my pictures was Animals. I have been really excited to use this as a subject because I currently have four dogs. Three of these dogs are one year old puppies while the other is turning ten soon. I was originally going to do this subject a couple weeks ago but my dogs had recently gotten a haircut, so I decided to wait for their hair to grow a bit more since it was cut so short it looks ridiculous.

Summary: I had a lot of fun with this assignment because I really do love my dogs, but it was a bit hard to get specific pictures of them because they were full of energy.

Photoshop Assignment - Car Photo

For this assignment we were to edit a specific car photo that a former student at Saline had taken. We were to edit this picture in specific ways as the "demo" showed us to. This was for us to get more familiar with Adobe Photoshop.

I learned some more of the important basics of using Photoshop, like how to "color" and use the "history brush." These techniques really help to edit photos and make them look cleaner and nicer.

 For this assignment we were to use a picture that we had taken of our self & a picture of whatever we chose, and to make Pop Art of the picture using Adobe Photoshop. Here are my images:

In this assignment, I learned some of the basics of using Adobe Photoshop such as copying and pasting, editing a canvas size, cropping, using threshold, and more.

                                                                                         

Photo Assignment #2: Event

This week, the subject I chose was on an event. This event had to be something special; something that usually does not occur. I chose this subject specifically for this week because our homecoming was taking place. Being a Sophomore, I've been to homecoming before and it is definitely my favorite part of the whole school year. Since homecoming is such a special night to me, why wouldn't I decide to take pictures leading up to the actual event?

Summary: I had a lot of fun with shooting for this specific event. I struggled a bit with finding things to take picture of, but I believe I imaged to accomplish what I really wanted. The quality for these photos are not as good as I'd like them to be, as I wish I could go back and fix this.

Editing: **There was some cropping, contrast boost, and coloring change (this is obvious on the "best photo".

Inspiration 2

My second photo shooting assignment will focus on the subject of a specific Event. I chose this subject for this week because this week is our homecoming week which only occurs once a year (obviously) and is a very fun and special thing for most students! This is definitely going to be a fun assignment.

These images that I am using for inspiration and very good examples for this subject because they clearly show that something exciting and special is occurring, but doesn't come out and say what that event may be. These pictures will be taken throughout my day on Saturday as I get ready for the Homecoming Dance.

Photo Assignment #1: Nature & Landscapes

This assignment was for us to choose one of the many subjects provided, and to take over 50 pictures. Only 10 of these were to be filed, and from there would we choose our best piece to upload. I chose Nature/Landscapes as my subject to focus on for the week due to the weather lately in Michigan. It has been a very rainy September, and I personally love the outdoors when it is like this. Although many Photographers would probably prefer to take pictures while it's sunny and warm outside, I prefer this sort of weather.

Summary:

I had a lot of fun with this first assignment, but struggled a little bit throughout the picture taking process. I personally like to take close-up pictures, and focusing got to be a bit hard for me for some reason. Overall, I think my assignment turned out fairly well, but definitely could have gone better.
